It is easy to get excited about something new and make commitments. But inevitably inertia becomes the enemy of momentum. The further one moves from the beginning the harder it becomes to fulfill one’s best intentions. Commitments are forgotten, things wear out, holes develop in our buckets that threaten to drain our resolve toward the goal. This is nothing new for followers of Christ. We will enter the life of some new believers who started out with great enthusiasm on a project, but as they entered Year Two, they had to be reminded and encouraged to renew their enthusiasm to fulfill their commitments. Let’s see what we can learn Sunday and what the Holy Spirit wants to do in and for us as we practice our giving and as we move Forward in Faith.
